The Avengers Are Reimagined As Dogs, Thanks To Doctor Strange

Because we all want Benedict Cumberbatch to promote his new film by showing us dogs dressed as superheroes.

Here’s how Marvel Studios describes its new movie, “Doctor Strange”:

From Marvel Studio comes “Doctor Strange,” the story of world-famous neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange whose life changes forever after a horrific car accident robs him of the use of his hands. When traditional medicine fails him, he is forced to look for healing, and hope, in an unlikely place — a mysterious enclave known as Kamar-Taj. He quickly learns that this is not just a center for healing but also the front line of a battle against unseen dark forces bent on destroying our reality. Before long Strange — armed with newly acquired magical powers — is forced to choose whether to return to his life of fortune and status or leave it all behind to defend the world as the most powerful sorcerer in existence.

And who only to play Doctor Strange, but a Pug.

Wait… a pug? Why not?

In a Marvel Comics promo clip shared by Comicbook.com on YouTube, the iconic character is played by, yes, a Pug. The clip, which is narrated by (and features) Benedict Cumberbatch, the classically trained actor who’s playing Doctor Strange in the upcoming film, also features canine version of Iron Man, Bruce Banner (aka The Hulk), Thor and Captain America — all of which make excellent superheroes, in our opinion (even if they lack the acting chops).

Cumberbatch introduces them all, starting with “the hero who wears the suit of iron.”

The dramatic lead-up to the dog in his costume is followed by the dog looking up at the actor with his tongue out. Cumberbatch tries to encourage the Pug to do his best in the role, before he gives up and gives the signal to cut filming. A short clip of the film, in theaters Nov. 4, 2016, plays afterward.

We just have one question: When is the canine version coming out?
