When Amanda Green placed an advertisement on New York City’s Craigslist back in March, seeking someone to walk her African spurred tortoise for $10 an hour with “no experience necessary,” her inbox received an overwhelming number of responses.

But it was Amalia McCallister, 24, who got the golden ticket and is now the official walker of Henry the tortoise. McCallister started her gig last week, according to the New York Times, and it seems like a good fit.

Green wanted someone local who was good with animals and people, and who has the capability to lift the 17-pound reptile into his stroller and to keep him from eating trash or being fed by children in Central Park, according to her original Craigslist ad. McCallister lives in the city and works for Petland Discounts, a local pet retailer.

McCallister completed her second solo walk with Henry on May 9, spending about two hours in the park with the reptile, who enjoys eating dandelions while frolicking in the grass.

So far McCallister enjoys taking Henry out on his walks in the park.

“I think it’s really important if you live in New York to get out in nature,” she told the Times. “I’d love to do more things like this, taking people’s weird pets out.”
