When I think of James Bond, I think of Snowball the gorgeous Persian sidekick of Bond’s nemesis, Ernst Stavro Blofeld in “You Only Live Twice.” I have always been a fan of the dashing 007 character and was a little jealous when, some years ago, a friend of mine got to meet Roger Moore.
Well I had my own “Bond Experience” a couple of weeks back when I got to meet Pierce Brosnan at an animal shelter in Los Angeles no less! It turns out that Mr. Brosnan is a HUGE animal lover and has both a dog and a cat.
The event was the launching of a new California license plate that will benefit a spay and neuter drive for shelter pets. James Bond, aka Brosnan, also happens to be a talented artist and designed the artwork for the project using his own pets as models.
I love the license plate idea because there are so many cars on the road in L.A. alone. If every car there “adopted” the new license plate, it would certainly get the message out about how important it is to spay and neuter to control the dog and cat population.
It’s a great cause and worth supporting. Just think, you may not own a Maseratti with state-of-the-art gadgets like the one 007 gets to drive, but you can still drive around with a little bit of James Bond by having this Pierce Brosnan-designed plate on your car.
The California Department of Motor Vehicles will not begin production of these plates until it has received 7,500 orders. I hope they reach this target quickly and thus get these license plates on the road. Check it out here.
