The great white shark, the misunderstood fish that sits atop the ocean’s food chain is probably the most popular fish of all time. It is large, has been swimming the world’s oceans for millions of years, and is maligned by the mainstream media as a vicious eating machine. The fact that it has large teeth that are super sharp and can tear whale flesh to pieces helps to perpetuate the stereotype. But the great white is just like every other living creature on Earth, making a living. These fish just do it in a seemingly violent manner for the most part. But they gotta eat.

New REMUS SharkCam Footage Sheds New Light on Great White Shark Predatory Attacks

A fisherman from Long Island captured some footage of a great white shark taking huge chunks of flesh and blubber off a dead whale and the footage is pretty powerful. This occurred about 45 miles off the coast of New York. You can actually see the impressions the shark has made on the side of the whale as it gorges itself on all that protein.

But not before the shark investigates the 29-ft fishing boat and the boat’s motor. The footage is fairly benign for the most part, showing the shark swimming around the boat and checking it out. The real interesting footage starts toward the end of the video when the shark starts to feast. It is really a testament to the power that large fish, in this case the great white shark, possesses.
